Ren Ferguson Custom Designed J-2000 Jumbo model from 1992 in Good Condition. Ebony Fingerboard & bridge. Abalone inlays. Cutaway and pickup. OHSC
Gibson Master Luthier Ren Ferguson in the '90s said about the J-2000:
"I Designed the J-2000 to combine the elegance that is Gibson's tradition with the needs of modern-day guitarists who desire full neck accessibility and demand the finest acoustic guitar money can buy"
The J-2000 had to become the ultimate in Gibson flattops, and one of the most versatile & multi purpose instruments Gibson ever had created. The body shape is derived from the J-185. Ren Ferguson chose the J-185 model as a blueprint for the new to be J-2000, because the slightly smaller Jumbo sized J-185 is able to cover a wide array of playing styles.
The first Gibson J-2000 came to light in 1991, and this model is from it's 2nd year of production.
This all solid Jumbo model has a Sitka Spruce top and Rosewood back & sides. A single piece Mahogany neck with Ebony fingerboard and a 12" Radius. The bridge, fretboard, edges of the top and the Headstock have beautifull MOP Mother of Pearl (Abalone) inlay.
The J-2000 has a tapered & scalloped 'single' X-bracing, pickup & cutaway. An outstanding guitar that, since 1992, has only gained in character and tone
